Frequently asked questions
General
Do you offer sliding scale or payment plans?
At this time, our services are offered at a set private pay rate and we are not able to provide sliding scale or payment plans.
Can I use insurance to pay for coaching?
At this time, coaching is private pay only, so you’ll need to pay directly rather than use insurance. You can use a credit card for payment.
Where do sessions take place?
Most of our coaching sessions take place virtually, allowing us to support clients in a comfortable, familiar environment.
We also offer in-person sessions in Chicago when both the coach and client prefer it and scheduling/location permits. All of our coaches are based in Chicago at this time.
What are your coaches’ qualifications?
All of our coaches hold a Master’s or Doctorate-level degree in a relevant field and have a minimum of 4 years of experience working with neurodivergent individuals and/or their families.
In addition to their unique training, each of our coaches identifies as neurodivergent themselves. This lived experience, combined with a neurodivergent-affirming and strengths-based approach, allows us to provide deeply understanding, individualized support.
Who is NCC Coaching a good fit for?
NCC Coaching is designed for autistic and other neurodivergent adults who want support with communication, connection, confidence, relationships, and everyday life. Your coaching is tailored to your goals, needs, and values.
What is coaching (and how is it different from therapy)?
Coaching is a goal-oriented, collaborative process focused on building skills, increasing self-understanding, and creating meaningful change in day-to-day life.
While therapy often focuses on diagnosis and mental health treatment, coaching focuses on the present and future—helping you move forward with practical strategies and support.
What kinds of goals can coaching help with?
Coaching can support areas such as:
Confidence and self-advocacy
Unmasking and identity exploration
Executive functioning (organization, time management, follow-through)
Social connection and communication
Life transitions and independence
Each coaching plan is personalized to your needs.
What is the first step if I want to work with NCC Coaching?
Start with a free 15-minute consultation. It gives you a chance to share your goals, ask questions, and see whether coaching feels like the right fit for you. You can book here: https://www.neurodiversecityconnection.com/book-a-free-consult
How often are sessions and how long do they last?
Most clients meet with their coach once per week, though frequency can be adjusted based on your needs.
Sessions typically last 60 minutes.
We offer packages of 5 or 10 sessions.
Do I need a formal diagnosis to work with you?
No, you do not need a formal diagnosis. You’re welcome here whether you’re formally diagnosed, self-identified, or still exploring whether neurodivergence fits your experience.
